| Hypnotherapy Session Experience |
- A hypnotherapist may employ a variety of techniques to induce the hypnotic state.
- The experience of hypnosis is different for each individual.
- Darcy will discuss your specific goals and reasons for selecting hypnotherapy in a pre-session conversation. You will be invited to ask any questions you may have.
- When appropriate to attain your goals, a process known as ‘tapping’ is integrated with hypnosis to active the same meridian points used in acupuncture and acupressure.
- To induce the hypnotic state, a generic ‘induction’ process is employed to establish a personal “safe place” that can be used in future sessions, self hypnosis, and meditation as desired.
- Once in the hypnotic state, Darcy uses a therapeutic technique known as ideo-motor. This is a gentle technique of communication in which the patient responds to directed questions by indicating ‘yes’ or ‘no’ through moving a finger designated for each response.
- During the session, the patient may experience the sensation of the body being heavy or light, physiological slow down, an extended sense of time, or restfulness.
- At the end of the session, Darcy assists the patient to gently return from the hypnotic state.
- She finalizes the session by reviewing the experience, answering patient questions, and setting future goals.
